(Acts 2:42) And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Saints of the Most High God. On many forums all over the internet the Apostles Doctrine is under attack. Today I was attacked on a forum and I will not mention any names, but I was attacked for preaching the New Birth Experience. There is a popular movement among some who claim to be apostolic but deny salvation consists of repentance, water baptism in jesus name and the baptism of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives the utterance. These have obeyed Acts 2:38 at some time in their lives, but no longer believe baptism and being filled with the Holy Ghost as being essential. They teach repentance is what brings salvation and the rest is just optional. These people we call one steppers because they call us three steppers.
A question was asked to me if I thought the Phillipian jailer in Acts 16 was saved when he was told by Paul and Silas to believe on the Lord Jesus. I then posted the scriptures that were misquoted and presented out of context to help them understand the jailer was saved and his family after he heard the Word preached and was baptized. I will post the scriptures below.
(Acts 16:27-34) 27And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. 34And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
Acts 16:31-Paul told the phillipian jailer to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and that he would be saved and his house. My question is was Paul and Silas telling the man that if he believed in Jesus that not only he would be saved but his house (family) would also because of his believing in Jesus Christ? The answer is no when read in context of the scriptures.
Acts 16:32 They Spoke the Word to all that were in his house. And Acts 16:33 tells us that he and his straightway were baptized. The problem is people misquote God’s Word and only mention part of a verse or twist a verse to firmly establish what it is they believe. So many over the years have tried to preach that peter and Paul preached different messages concerning salvation when Acts 19 tells us firmly that Paul baptized in Jesus name and that he preached Holy Ghost baptism. Paul the Apostle even went as far to proclaim that if any man has not the Spirit of Christ(aka Baptism of the Holy Ghost) that he is none of His(that is to say he doesnt belong to Jesus Romans 8:9).
These people who try to twist the word of God to make their three god worshipping buddies born again by going against the New Birth Experience as taught by Jesus in (John 3:5). Jesus declared except (unless) a man be born of water (baptism in Jesus name) and of the Spirit(Holy Ghost baptism) he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. You cannot get into the kingdom without the new birth experience there is no other way around it. Jesus said if you come in any other way your a thief and a robber(John 10:1).
Friends be careful of those you fellowship with because there is alot of people walking around claiming to be full of the light of truth but are lost in darkness. Jesus said in (Luke 11:35) Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. So many who claim to be “Apostolic” and deny Jesus Name baptism and being filled with the Holy Ghost and preach it as optional in my estimation is full of darkness and not light. These Jude wrote about declaring them to be of old ordained to this condemnation. ( Jude vs 3-4) 3Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
I am sorry if people are disappointed that we are standing for the truth. But truth is what we love and preach here at the bibles truth’s revealed and if the gainsayers dont like it we will continue stedfastly in the Apostles Doctrine.
In Jesus name,
Bro. Josh Sparks.
