Enemies of the Cross of Christ.

Enemies of the Cross of Christ.

Praise the Name of Jesus Christ!!!

When a person who is skilled in building and construction, they first make sure to build a solid foundation firstly. The stability of a house, or building is in a good sound and solid foundation. As a builder of sorts, as pertaining to spiritual things, I want to make sure a solid foundation is laid before I build the house on top of it. The foundation we must build on is Jesus Christ and no other foundation can any man lay that what has been set in place and established by God himself other then Jesus Christ. We are built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, but never forget Jesus is the chief cornerstone and the whole building is fitly framed together from Him and grows into a Holy Temple of God(Ephesians 2:20-21).

As we prepare to write about a subject that needs to be discussed, we must first establish the fact that there is a cross standing between you and eternity and man made doctrines and teachings have tried to remove the cross and make light of Jesus sacrifice for your sins and my sins on Calvary. These are enemies of the Cross of Jesus Christ.

(1 Corinthians 10:10-11)

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

We will look at several verses of scriptures. But lets look first at when I call Foundational Scriptures to establish our foundational

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Lets first look at what I like to call the Foundational Scriptures, to establish the mind set of this whole study we will be embarking on together.

(Romans 16:17-18)

17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine (teachings see Acts 2:42) which ye have learned; and avoid them.

18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good (flattering) words and fair (fine speaking, or eloquence of language)  speeches deceive the hearts of the simple(those innocent, or unsuspecting).

To mark means to take aim at, to regard or consider, to take heed. Simply put, Paul the Apostle was saying, make a mental and spiritual note of those who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the Doctrine of Jesus Christ(Apostles Doctrine) and avoid them. Yes we are to avoid or keep away from or to shun away from those who bring with them divisions and offences contrary to Jesus and His Word.

The Word Divisions means disunion or disunity, dissension or disagreement, division and sedition which is an incitement or rebellion.

The word offenses means a snare, a cause or displeasure or sin. Occasion to fall or to stumble. A thing that offends. A stumbling block which makes one to trip and fall. Today I am going to write about something that was settled 20 centuries ago an the first Apostolic Convention in Antioch found recorded in Acts ch. 15. There is a great movement of ministries and churches wanting to research the Jewishness of the Church. I have no problem with people wanting to research the first century church that was established by Jewish men, whose ministry at first was solely to Jews, that wrote by inspiration of God the Bible which in fact is a Jewish book. I do have problems however, with Christians who claim to be Apostolic attempting to enforce Sabbath keeping, and Holy Days and feasts upon born again Gentiles. This directly contradicts the command given to Gentile converts as declared by Bishop James the Brother of Jesus in Acts 15:22-29.

(Acts 15:22-29)

22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.

24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

So many still attempt to bring believers into bondage or rules and hand writings and ordinances that was against us especially us Gentiles who had no sacrifice for our sins under the law, Christ moved these out of the way nailing them to the cross.

( Colossians 2:14) Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.

Paul declared to the Church in Galatia (Galatians 5:4) Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. I am justified by Jesus blood and not the ceremonial law. The Holy Ghost has written God’s law in our hearts, and while the 10 commandments are God’s Law to Israel and are the foundational laws for the church, we have been given even more laws to live by found in the New Testament that are commandments not grievous to us but we can live them because of the indwelling Holy Ghost.

Lets look at Philippians 3:1-3.

(Philippians 3:1-3)

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.

2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision(Judaizers).

3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh(Race)

Lets also look at Philippians 3:17-21.

(Philippians 3:17-21)

17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

The writer of Hebrews declares to us in (Hebrews 10:9)Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. God sent Jesus to shed His blood, thus fulfilling the Covenant He made with Abraham. Abraham shed blood through circumcision and the one who Covenanted with Abraham shed His blood on the cross fulfilling the Abrahamic Covenant and establishing a better covenant with much better promises.

The Apostle Paul declared in (Philippians 3:2) Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. The word concision means a cutting down of, or mutilation.

Today I want us to take a look at a group of Apostolic Jesus Name Pentecostals who are enemies of the Cross of Christ. These demand you and I to be re baptized using the Hebrew name of Jesus which is Yeshua or we cannot be saved. These are attempting to revive the keeping of the law of Moses and the commandments given to Israel in (Exodus 20) especially the Sabbath, who through the spirit of deception believe that one must keep the law and be saved. Today I am marking these who are of the concision, who are attempting to do away with Calvary to live under the law that was nailed to Jesus Cross.

Acts 15 at the First General Conference of the Church, the Agenda was not to vote on the articles of faith, or to go over the church budget. No the number one item of business as we said earlier was whether or not converted Gentiles or Jews should keep the Law of Moses and be circumcised.

(Acts 15:1)  And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

The Apostle Paul, an ex-Pharisee along with Barnabas came to dispute this erroneous doctrine of Salvation not by Grace alone, but by law and grace, (AKA) by Race or flesh through faith.

(Acts 15:5) But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

In (Acts 15:6-11) The Apostle Peter through his public teaching testified how through his preaching the Gospel that even the Gentiles believed and were filled with the Holy Ghost, and Peter makes a very bold statement in these verses of scripture.

(Acts 15:10-11)

10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

So many today are trying to revive keeping the law of Moses, a Law that was given to Israel alone. This was a law that was not inclusive of the gentile and Arabic nations around Israel, no these nations were strangers and aliens from the common wealth of Israel. The Law given was for Israel and them alone. Yet so many today want to revive law keeping, and circumcision and feats and try to make the disciples of Jesus today live under a yoke of bondage when Jesus came to set them free from the law that was only given as a school master to bring us to Jesus Christ.

(Galatians 3:24)Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. So many today who are retracing the Hebrew roots of the church, end up law keepers and Sabbath keepers and find themselves in the same boat as those who brought divisions in the church. Salvation is not by Law and Grace but by Grace through Faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

I stand with the Apostles and their statement they published in the bible.

(Acts 15:19) Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God.

On the day of Pentecost Peter told those law keeping Jews that the New Birth Experience of being born again of water and Spirit came by way or Repentance, Water Baptism in Jesus Name and as a result God would fill them with the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38). This same message was preached to the Gentiles (Acts 10) and they were filled with the Holy Ghost, baptized into the Lord’s body without one mention of the law of Moses or keeping the Sabbath or the Commandments of Exodus 20. To revive law keeping and circumcision, you who subscribe to this will eventually blaspheme Jesus blood when the 3rd temple is rebuilt you add your agreement to animal sacrifices for Israel in that temple.

Several years ago, I had an Apostolic Pastor write me and ask me if I wanted to give a $1000.00 offering to purchase a red heifer to use in the rebuilt 3rd temple for sacrifice. I wrote him back and ask him why he wanted to spit Jesus blood in His face and tell Him His Cross wasn’t enough because that is what you are saying. The abomination of desolation will be the anti christ standing in the temple claiming to be God (2 Thessalonians 2:2-12). I wonder how many law keepers will run to his ability to call down fire from heaven on the sacrifices and say oh this has to be Jesus?

If you are being deceived by these folks, run from them. They will cause you to blaspheme Jesus blood and sacrifice by making you live under the law. We are free from the law by Jesus blood and now we live by Jesus Command in the New Covenant, the blood covenant. So many who fight for the keeping of the law will fight tooth and nail against those of us who have removed the kneeling benches they call altars and have placed in the church the true altar of God the Lord’s Table where we partake of Jesus body and blood this they will fight against though it was instituted in the church and is as important or more important then preaching and yes in fact is a salvational issue. This we will discuss in future posts.

My prayer is that you will let God’s Word establish you in truth. Remember these who are of the concision are operating under the spirit of the enemy to try to destroy the church. But saints rejoice Jesus said He would built His church and the gates of hell couldn’t prevail against it (Matthew 16:18).

In Jesus Name,

Greater works then these!

Praise the Name of our Risen Lord, Jesus the Christ.

Today, in the area in which I live we have seen temperatures drop below zero. As a matter of fact when I woke up to ready myself for work, and proceeded outside to start my vehicle, it registered as -2 on my digital thermometer. As I sat here at work, my mind began to play over and over these words spoken by Our Lord; “Greater Work’s then these”. You may say what does that have to do with current temperatures in your state Bro. Sparks?

In my community there are many homeless people, and though our city is relatively small compared to some,(population 20,000+)we do have quiet a few homeless people, and those less fortunate who live in impoverished conditions. Also in our community there are many magnificent edifices built, Churches, whose ability to house many during these times of frigid temperatures, remain locked up, and the needy turned away to other agency’s.

Jesus gave the responsibility of feeding the hungry, and clothing the naked, and sheltering the stranger, etc; and it is so frustrating to hear so many people quote John 14:12-14 that can’t even do the works of Jesus Christ, yet they are always declaring that they are doing the greater works Jesus spoke of, and most of these people are so unlearned in God’s Word that they will fight against and ridicule the soul seeking truth and fight against the very name of Jesus Christ.

(John 14:121-14)

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

The folks who sometimes often quote this scripture, hurry through verse 12 to get to the “most important part”, where Jesus speaks about the greater works. Notice what Jesus said as we look closely at verse 12.

(John 14:12)  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Jesus said firstly, those who believe on Him, the works that Jesus does he would do also, and greater works then these why? Because Jesus goes back to the Father. What would empower man and give him the ability to do greater works? Jesus declared that we would be endued(clothed) with power after the Holy Ghost Baptism had been received (Acts 1:4-8). This power received from the Holy Ghost enables one to be a witness, in word and demonstration and we see this demonstration of the Holy Ghost as Jesus worked with His Apostles confirming His word with signs(Mark 16:20).

Now we will look at two different portions of scripture, in the same chapter, (Matthew 25) dealing with what Jesus meant when He said the works I do shall you do.

(Matthew 25:33-40)

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Jesus then speaks to those on the left:

(Matthew 25:41-46)

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

If you have truly been born again and passed from death to life, men will be able to see this because of the way you love your brothers and if you do not love you do not know God because God is love(1 John 4:8).

(1 John 3:14) We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

We also seen in the following scriptures that love is commanded.

(1 John 4: 7-20)

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

19 We love him, because he first loved us.

20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

If we claim to be spiritual and cannot love, but turn our head and pretend not to see those hurting and in need around us, then the works we do, not motivated by love will fail and when we stand before Jesus Christ in judgement, we will be like those who said Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out devils and in your name do many wonderful works? Jesus will then profess to them depart from me ye workers of iniquity I never knew you. Jesus said not everyone that calls Him Lord will enter into Heaven but those who dill the will of the Father will.

(Matthew 7:20-23)

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Our love for God is not demonstrated by how many wheel chairs we have seen emptied, nor how many blinded eyes we have seen opened or deaf ears unstopped. You may have seen the dead raised and devils cast out, but in all of this our love for God is not demonstrated in our many mighty acts. How then you may ask, Bro. Josh is our love for God demonstrated? It is by keeping Jesus commandments.
(John 14:15) If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Our love for Jesus is demonstrated by keeping His commandments and doing the will of God. If we love truly, and if we are truly born of God we will do the works of Jesus and if we do the works of Jesus then the greater works will follow. It is so sad though to see the group of believers no doubt, turned away from the one they call Lord, because the Lord declared, “I never knew you”.
Jesus truly knows our hearts, and if we are sincere and love the truth and love Him, and live the word of God and apply it to our lives, we will do the works of Jesus Christ and be accepted among the beloved.
(1 Corinthians 8:3) But if any man love God, the same is known of him. We show him by our willingness to keep His commandments.
Have you obeyed Jesus command today to be born again of the water and the Spirit(John 3:5)? If not you can and here is how.
(Acts 2:37-39)37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

If this bible study has blessed you, share it with someone else today. Feel free to print off these studies and share them with your churches, and Sunday School Classes and Bible College Classes. Freely have we received and freely we distribute God’s Word to you our faithful friends all around the world. May God’s very best be yours in the Name of Jesus Christ.

In His Grip,

Elder Josh Sparks.
